Wraparound support that meets you where you are.

Leaving violence is just the beginning. That’s why our team offers a full range of trauma-informed, culturally responsive services to support women, children, and gender-diverse people as they heal and rebuild.

Whether you access our services through our shelter or in the community, we’ll meet you with compassion and respect every step of the way.

You’re not alone

Since opening our doors in 1983, we’ve helped more than 15,000 survivors transform their lives beyond violence.

Our Core Programs

Life Without Violence Program

24/7 crisis intervention and supportive counselling for adults and children living in our shelter. Our counsellors help clients set goals and make plans - at their own pace and without pressure - so they can begin rebuilding their lives with confidence.

Child and Youth Program

This program helps children and youth who have experienced, or witnessed violence regulate emotions, build resilience, and begin to heal. We deliver this work through reading circles, arts and crafts, homework clubs, and more.

Outreach Program

Our outreach program supports individuals and families as they transition to independent living. We help survivors secure safe, stable housing and connect with counselling, job training, and life-skills programs - all grounded in dignity, care, and respect.

You Deserve to Be Safe, Seen, and Supported.

If you or someone you know is experiencing violence, please reach out. We’re here to help - without judgement and real support.

Our Commitment to You

Ernestine’s is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and affirming space for all survivors.

We recognize the unique and compounding barriers faced by Black and Indigenous survivors, racialized communities, 2SLGBTQ+ survivors, people living with disabilities, and newcomers.

Our services are grounded in an anti-oppressive, anti-racist, trauma-informed and harm reduction approach because healing can only happen in spaces where people are respected, believed, and valued.
