Ernestine's Welcomes You to a Virtual Tour Around Our Shelter

Over the past few weeks and months, we as a global community have been going through some drastic changes to the way we live our lives due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As we have entered unchartered territory, we’re all trying to find a ‘new normal’. For us at Ernestine’s, this has meant a shift in the ways in which we deliver our shelter programs and services.
In our shelter community, we are seeing that there is greater urgency in the need for our services right now as those who are experiencing abuse and domestic violence are caught in an extremely volatile and dangerous situation due to COVID-19 and its lockdown regulations. For Ernestine’s, our priority at this time is therefore our commitment to provide a safe haven for those who arrived at our doors seeking safety and shelter.
We at Ernestine’s take pride in the fact that we are more than just an emergency shelter for women and their children. Ernestine’s is a refuge for those who turn to us; Ernestine’s is their home. While the pandemic has undoubtedly changed shelter life, we strive to adapt to the situation in order to provide the best support for the women and children in our community.
At Ernestine’s, we are fortunate to have our outstanding staff, whose commitment to the cause is truly inspiring, and our community of supporters and donors, whose generosity over the recent weeks has been overwhelming, to help us through this trying time!
Thank you to each individual, corporation, and foundation who continue to support us during this challenging time. Thank you for always standing by our side and fighting with us to break the cycle of violence against women! They say that in the darkest of times, it is your truest friends who will show you the light.
Since we cannot physically open our doors to welcome all of our wonderful supporters into our shelter to express our thanks and to show you in person how your generosity has impacted the lives of every single woman and child who use our services, we have prepared a virtual shelter tour where Sharlene Tygesen, Ernestine’s Executive Director, will show you around and give you an update as to how the COVID crisis has affected the shelter and how we have adapted our programs and services to meet the complex needs of our in-house and outreach clients.
A big Thank You also goes to the wonderful Alex Huard who donated his time and skills to create this beautiful online tour of the shelter!
Thank you for Standing Up For Women and Protecting Children!
