We have programs at Ernestine’s that focus on the needs of the busy high school student. There are two programs; the Ambassador Program and the 40 hr Student Program.
The Ambassador Program allows a student to focus on fundraising and awareness building campaigns in their school and community. Students can create a Girls/Boys Club which is proactive in raising awareness of the issue of violence against women and children in your school or community. With the assistance of your teacher, Ernestine’s Fundraiser and the Coordinator of Volunteer Services we will support your community efforts.
The 40hr Student Program allows students to obtain the 40 hours they must have prior to high school graduation. These volunteer tasks range from sorting items in the donations room, to cleaning toys or helping with homework or the music program for the Child and Youth Program to helping with maintenance and yard work.
Ernestine’s also has a Student Program that is designed to meet the needs of college or university students. These students are required to complete anywhere from 100 to 500 hours during their workplace placement. Doing your placement at Ernestine’s will allow you to have a hands-on experience within your school program areas and interact with the women, children, staff and volunteers.
You will be required to have a Learning Contract which will include the goals you want to accomplish during your placement. You will also need to have an interview, reference check, orientation and a current police check. For more information contact the Coordinator of Volunteer Services.
