24th Annual Ernestine Affair
Wednesday April 11, 2018
The 24th Annual Ernestine Affair took place on April 11th, 2018 at the Carlu. This year’s event was incredibly successful with its goals to support the women and children at Ernestine’s Women’s Shelter and create conversations about gender-based violence. This past year marked a momentous year for social change with the success of Tarana Burke’s #MeToo movement, and our event guests engaged with challenging issues faced by women and children in our communities, and around the world, but it didn’t stop there. Our supporters at the event weren’t just part of the conversation – they were part of the change.
The affair generated a grand total of $208,500 for the life-saving programs and services at Ernestine’s Women’s Shelter! This will make a direct impact on the lives of women and children in the shelter, by opening up doors for newcomer families, helping families put food in their pantries and fridges, as well as supporting our school program which prevents the cycle of violence from ever starting.
To our event attendees, thank you for showing up and sharing in this incredible experience with us! We hope that you had a wonderful experience on April 11th and left the event feeling better informed and motivated to create change. This event is not only an occasion for us to raise funds to support our programs and services, but it’s also an opportunity to celebrate, honour, and support the women, children, and youth who have used Ernestine’s services and have made incredible strides in their lives. Thank you for being there to witness the courage and resilience of this year’s award winners, and to hear their stories. Once again, thank you for an incredible evening. It was a success because of partners you!
Thank you to our incredible event host, Sharon Lewis, for making this year’s Ernestine Affair a night to remember!
